Glasgow restaurants celebrate gourmet offering

Gourmet Glasgow is gearing up for its sixth year and the Ashoka West End has created a new Tunnock’s inspired Indian dessert to celebrate.

Gourmet Glasgow, run by Glasgow Restaurateurs Association, takes place from Monday 4 August to Sunday 31 August.

Inspired by the Indian pudding 'Nariyal Barfi', chefs at the Ashoka have created a unique dish that fuses two of Glasgow's favourite foods, Indian cuisine and Tunnock's.

Available throughout the festival (£3.50/slice), the recipe features key ingredients including Snowballs, Caramel Wafers and Teacakes.

David Maguire, Chief Executive of Glasgow Restaurateurs Association said: "Glasgow is one of the UK's most vibrant cities and has a huge amount to offer its residents and visitors. Our restaurants are second to none and Gourmet Glasgow provides an opportunity for these establishments to showcase their outstanding dishes and quality service.

"There are so many cultures contributing to Glasgow's restaurant scene and it's fitting that we should celebrate this in the same month the Olympics take place."

Over 40 restaurants in the city will also take part in the Dine Around promotion offering diners fixed priced menus starting at £15 throughout August with a free dram of Auchentoshan whisky for all meals booked online at www.graonline.co.uk
