Diners blindfolded in new concept

A brand new dining concept is being launched at The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh next month, which will see diners blindfolded.

The first of its kind in Scotland – Sensory Dining is designed to heighten awareness of the food's flavours, smells and textures by removing sight. Throughout the evening diners are blindfolded and have no prior knowledge of the dishes or beverages on the menu.

Each table will have a host for the evening which will guide diners through the courses, hinting at what's soon to hit their palates.

Each dish has been created by The Sheraton Grand's award-winning Executive Chef, Malcolm Webster: "We are really excited to be launching Sensory Dining and are keen for our diners to fall in love with the food's true taste, letting the aromas, textures and varying combinations of flavours do all the work. By taking away the sense which we rely on the most – sight - we are offering diners something new, creative and fun as well as challenging their palates.

"The five course menu I have created aims to heighten awareness of the dishes flavours without the distractions of presentation. I hope our diners will enjoy an evening of fun, relaxation, excitement and discovery!"

The inaugural Sensory Dining event will take place in the Grill Room at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa on 24th October, with a second dinner on 14th November.

The menu will cost £60 per person which includes chosen beverages and a donation to Scottish Guide Dogs for the Blind.
