Celebrity chef joins forces with Flybe

Flybe has teamed up with celebrity chef James Martin to introduce a designer range of sandwiches on board all Flybe flights as part of the airline’s ‘Deli in the Sky’ in-flight menu.

Martin will be taking part in a number of marketing promotions in the New Year in his new role as Flybe's celebrity chef. These will include fronting a national competition offering passengers the chance to win an individual master cookery class with the chef at his home in Winchester.

In addition, Flybe will also be running a promotion inviting passengers to submit their ideas for a new sandwich. The winning creation will be added to the James Martin onboard range and will be available for purchase onboard all of Flybe's 72 aircrafts.

The fillings in the sandwich range will change every two months. The current range includes favourites such as BLT and roast chicken salad, as well as new options such as New York deli bloomers, chicken tikka and all-day breakfast croissants.

Simon Lilley, Flybe's director of marketing, commented: "The partnership with James Martin moves our onboard product forward yet again in terms of customer appeal. We will use James to spearhead our latest ground breaking move to allow passengers to pre-purchase food and drink vouchers for onboard."
